When IBM sought a name for their new business solutions software, they came to Namebase. The offering had a key benefit of providing a level of security with open-access features for easier integration with other systems. We created the name WebSphere, which conveys both security and universality, with its connotations of space, strength, and integrity. WebSphere now serves as an umbrella for a billion-dollar family of integration and application infrastructure products.
